Pantone reveals “Viva Magenta” as the color of 2023

Pantone has revealed its 2023 Color of the Year, 18-1750 “Viva Magenta,” a new color “Brave and bold, whose exuberance promotes a joyful and optimistic celebration.” The hue belongs to the red family and is inspired by the “cochineal” hue, one of the most historically used dyes for textiles, cosmetics, and food.

Viva Magenta was introduced to Pantone's color palette in 2019. Its rapid rise to stardom has been largely driven by the events we've been through. As Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, puts it, " It's an unconventional color for an unconventional moment .”
